Khulna is situated on the south west corner of Bangladesh. There are different sayings about the origin of the name of khulna. But the most popular say is that there was a village named Kismat Khulna in the eastern side of the city and opposite to the river. By deducting Kismat the name khulna was established. However some says that the name khulna origins from the word Khulenshori Kali Mondir.
